Barcelona Set to Play Inaugural Game at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday
Barça revealed their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Bilbao team in domestic competition two and a half years following their departure for construction to commence.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited but 45,401 spectators can be present under the licence granted. After final construction, it will accommodate almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. Barça announced completed upgrades featured an updated entryway for the team plus modern locker rooms.
Preparatory Events
The club conducted an open training session inside the stadium in early November. Officials stated they are seeking authorization from Uefa to play their next home Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt in December at the stadium. Their recent games have been held in the temporary ground.
