Performer Rejects Anti-Vaxxer Position Following Voicing Controversial Coronavirus Feature
The "Taken" star has provided his voice to a feature-length documentary that challenges the legitimacy of immunizations and praises ex- health official Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Documentary's Provocative Basis
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the project is inspired by a popular book published by a controversial scientist, who gained notoriety during the global outbreak for assertions that the illness was a result of a problematic version of the seasonal immunization.
The book's collaborator, the executive producer, has previously authored books with far-right media personality the Infowars host. He recently posted hailing Neeson's participation in the documentary.
An Unequivocal Denial
A spokesperson for the actor have released a response pushing back against implications that he holds anti-vaccine sentiments.
"Many acknowledge that misconduct can exist within the drug industry, but that must not be confused with rejection of vaccines," the comment states. "Liam is not, and remains not, against vaccines. His considerable work with Unicef highlights his long-held support for public-health initiatives."
The response continued that the actor did not shape the project's messaging and that questions about its claims should be directed to the creators.
Key Themes Featured in the Feature
According to the documentary, the voiceover read by Neeson makes several strong statements:
- It states that pro-vaccine voices have called for "complete compliance" to health authorities.
- It declares that "research has become deeply politicized."
- Kennedy is shown claiming, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they are not adequately tested."
- The film also criticizes pandemic restrictions, claiming they caused psychological harm that cost thousands of lives.
- Regarding Covid vaccines, it references a view that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Previous Controversy and Recent Debates
The documentary further cites a historical film about AIDS medication trials on children, which was subsequently the focus of a correction by the corporation for violations of guidelines.
In recent weeks, Kennedy directed the Centers for Disease Control to change its long-held position that there is no causal relationship between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This assertion is echoed in the film, contrary to a new report from the World Health Organisation stating no evidence has been found.
A Past Statement of Advocacy
Standing in contrast to the film's narrative, Neeson has previously expressed clear advocacy for vaccines in his position as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
In 2022, he described vaccines as "a remarkable triumph," noting that "The debate about vaccines in recent years has lost sight of how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in our history."
"Plague of Corruption" finishes with Neeson's narration saying, "This isn't the end of our narrative. This is the start of a new chapter."
