The network's Top New Show of 2025 Secures a Significant Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons.

Last October, the late-night programming block welcomed back its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. However, later that same month, the network introduced a brand-new animated series with a markedly softer vibe. Haha, You Clowns proved to be heartwarming and calm, evoking a animated take of a serene talk show. At a time often defined by dark humor, this show's sincerity struck a chord and helped it become a breakout hit.

A Major Commitment

On December 18th, Adult Swim revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two additional seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to further explore the world of the Campbell family. The series focuses on three well-mannered teenage brothers whose defining trait is their strong bond for their widowed father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four key characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the fans of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and spread the word," remarked Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

Network Praise

Accompanying the news laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and strangely uncanny." He specifically highlighted the fans who embraced the show and supported its uniquely offbeat style.

"All of you supported this new show, championed for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a gentle counterpart" to other adult animated fare. It offers something unexpectedly cozy about following this lovable family go about their daily lives.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa stated his goal to help comedy break out of its long-running cynical streak. He attributed this trend to various cultural shifts.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we keep returning to,” said Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we must laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

The Path Forward

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa could potentially catalyze that change he described. At a minimum, the renewal ensures audiences more opportunities to bask in the gentle humor of the unique Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The complete first season is ready to watch on HBO Max.
